Destiny Rise of Iron Reveal Trailer & More Info

Yesterday during Bungie’s Rise of Iron livestream which revealed Destiny’s newest expansion, Rise of Iron will cost £24.99 and will be available on September 20.

If you pre-order the expansion, you will be able to get your hands on a revamped version of the Gjallarhorn, titled Iron Gjallarhorn. For those who didn’t pre-order the Rise of Iron will still be able to obtain a Gjallarhorn through an in-game quest.

Following the initial leak that cropped up a few weeks ago that revealed the Rise of Iron expansion by artwork, the reveal trailer and livestream have given players a more in-depth look into what’s to come in September.

Rise of Iron will only be launching for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, leaving behind last generation consoles.

The new expansion will be set in The Plaguelands that’s a new playable area beyond the Earth’s Cosmodrome wall as indicated in the reveal trailer. The expansion will include a new raid, strike, story missions and a new patrol area, which is pretty much the same format as The Taken King expansion.

Spearheading the expansion is Iron Banner’s very own Lord Saladin who will act as your companion like Eric Morn through The Dark Below and Petra Venj in House of Wolves. Guardian’s are tasked this time around to focus on going up against mutant Fallen and to find out exactly what happened to the rest of the Iron Lords.

Splicers have broken through The Wall and have come across, “forbidden technology of almost limitless power,” called SIVA, and they are able to transform, “the region to fit their twisted desires.”

Information on the expansions raid and strike is still at this point in time kept under wraps however more information will be released between now and September commented Bungie.

The official description reads, “Guardians must rise to the challenge to take their place as the next generation of Iron Lords. Along the way they will join forces with a legend from humanity’s Golden Age to defeat a plague of unstoppable evil once and for all.”

In an interview with VG247, speaking with David ‘Deej’ Dague and Eric ‘Urk’ Osborne go into more details on a bit more about the lore behind the Iron Lords and much more.

“We’re in a really good spot with Destiny right now and the outcry we’ve heard from the community recently is that they want more content. We’ve been creating a lot of fun experiences in our Live Team and we’ve seen a lot of success there. People are playing the game and finding lots of fun things to do. We’ve been fine-tuning those and making them better and better as we go.”

“But we’ve been hearing this loud chorus of people who wanna learn more about the lore, and the story, and have a rich cinematic campaign experience, meet the characters of the world. To have some new gear, some armour to go out there and chase and earn and upgrade. Co-operatively and competitively – obviously people are really interested in having a new raid experience.”

“Rise of Iron is primarily about telling a great story and providing players with tons of things to do in the world. It’s literally an expansion to the story and the world of Destiny.”

“Certainly we’re gonna have a ton of quality of life improvements and they’re some things we’re playing pretty close to the chest that we’re gonna talk about further down the line, but fundamentally it really is ‘here’s a bunch of new stuff to play and do in Destiny’ for the people that love it.”

“Our entire approach to developing Destiny has changed because we have the luxury of understanding our audience now,” Dague commented.

“Now that we know who the Guardians are, and now that we understand what motivates our audience to play this game and what things our community really loves about this game, we can – with expansions like this especially – latch onto those things and elaborate on them.”

destiny_rise_of_iron_1

“When we look at the competitive and social phenomenon that Iron Banner has been since the Destiny beta, we’ve have a number of different requests from people who want us to satisfy curiosity about Lord Saladin’s story. Who is Felwinter? Why do I have a heavy machine gun named after Jolder? Who are these people, and why are they worthy of having their names etched onto these fantastic weapons?”

“With something like Rise of Iron, we can tell that story, and pull them a little deeper into unexplored corners.”

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Coming December

Another day, another Kingdom Hearts game, and it still isn’t Kingdom Hearts III unfortunately, but not to worry, the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is a HD remastering of the collection of the Kingdom Hearts series, which will be released this December on the PlayStation 4.

This remastered version includes Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance that was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS, alongside a short animated feature film set before the events of the entire trilogy, Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage and last but not least the HD movie Kingdom Hearts X [chi] Back Cover that tells the story of the Foretellers.

So don’t worry, this is the final one before Kingdom Hearts III, but this trailer released for the remastered titles definitely hits right in the feels.

The game-play trailer seen above shows one of the original Keyblade wielders, Aqua, traversing fragmented bridges and battling her way against the Heartless with a teaser of another Birth By Sleep protagonist, Tera.

Square Enix Japan Studios’ Senior Marketing Manager, Kaori Takasue wrote in a recent PlayStation blog post, “the brand-new storyline will provide players with a preview of the upcoming events of the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III.

Square Enix also announced that Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is coming to mobile devices in Europe and it’s going to be the first game in the series to come to Android and iOS. The title will focus on earlier parts of the series’ history also reaching into events from Kingdom Hearts III.

At the end of the new trailer, Square Enix also confirmed that new announcements regarding Kingdom Hearts III will be announced, “this winter.” So brace yourselves guys, because winter is coming and hopefully more news on KH3.

Overwatch: McCree & D.Va in Blizzard’s Balancing Crosshair

UPDATE

In an interview with Eurogamer, director Jeff Kaplan had mentioned in the story below that the plan was to decrease the Fan the Hammer damage for Overwatch hero McCree.

“The goal there is to make it so that McCree can still use his combo that we love, which is Flashbang and Fan the Hammer on somebody like Tracer. McCree should absolutely kill that Tracer. We want McCree to be a counter to people like Tracer, Genji and Reaper.”

“What we’re not crazy about, right now, is the way in which McCree can absolutely shred tanks. It’s a little too easy, so we want to bring the Fan the Hammer damage down, so he’s still killing the squishies and the medium strength heroes, but he’s less effective against the tanks.”

“If he times everything perfectly and gets every single shot off, he’s got a shot against a tank, but it’s not the instant ‘I win’ button that it is right now.”

ORIGINAL STORY

D.Va and McCree are in Blizzard’s balancing cross-hair at the moment as players have started to feedback the strengths and weaknesses of the tank and offensive characters.

In a battle.net forum thread, Principal designer Geoff Goodman made suggestions regarding possible nerfs to offensive hero McCree as he has a very lethal flashbang and Fan the Hammer combo – this is the alt-fire on his six shooter that unloads all bullets in the blink of an eye.

This win combo according to Goodman’s statement is likely to be adjusted, speaking on behalf of the studio in a thread called ‘Please Nerf McCree’:

“I’ve been watching McCree carefully since we’ve released. McCree’s flashbang plays an important role in being strong option against very fast/agile teams  (Tracerrs, Genjis etc).”

“It is also a nice tool to prevent close range devastating abilities and ultimates such as Reaper’s Death Blossom. That said, its probably a bit too good at dealing damage to higher health targets such as Tanks and barriers. I don’t have any concrete changes yet, but I’m going to be testing some things internally to see how he plays.”

“By saying it’s probably a bit too good at dealing damage to higher health targets’ I meant his Flash/Fan combo, not the Flash itself. Fan is more likely to see changes than Flash at this point.”

McCree fan the hammer

In another thread regarding D.Va, Goodman also made various hints regarding the hero’s relatively low damage output:

“D.Va’s damage is definitely on the lower side, much like Winston’s. They are this way for a similar reason; They are both very mobile and hard to kill. Every character in the game has strengths and weaknesses, it’s part of what makes the team-play work well.”

“That said, I do think there is some room for some D.Va improvements, but these are unlikely to take the shape of increasing her damage output significantly.”

“Yes she gets taken down quickly if she is fighting multiple targets, unlike Winston/Reinhardt because of their barriers. When I said she is difficult to kill it’s speaking for a smaller skirmish standpoint standpoint, which can usually set up due to her Flight ability.”

“There was a time, when she was first implemented, where she had more damage than she does now. The way that played out is that she would fly into someone’s face, destroy them, and fly away. There was little that person could do because her mobility.”

“The goal is that she should be a viable aggressive initiation tank, much like Winston can be right now, rather than some sort of beefy flying assassin. So any changes will likely be helping her in that direction.”

There isn’t anything concrete at the moment if Blizzard actually will be implementing these tweaks, however such is the life of any games similar to Overwatch that has any sort of competitive PvP like Destiny or Tom Clancy’s: The Division. The inevitability of imbalances where certain characters are overpowered compared to others as players will always find lethal combos.

The Division 1.2 Conflict Patch: Dark Zone Loot Hijacking, Clear Sky Incursion & More

The Division 1.2 free update titled Conflict is now available for download on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC for Tom Clancy’s The Division, which includes Dark Zone loot hijacking, fresh activities like high-valued targets, new gear, the second end-game incursion, massive amount of bug fixes following a scheduled maintenance.

Some of the more welcomed additions to the update is the mass amount of bug fixes that have been recurring throughout the game, such as exploits where players rapidly equip and unequip items which stacks the effects of talents. This more so enables god like character buffs that should not even be possible to achieve.

One of the most intense and probably interesting mechanics that has been added to the game is the ability to hijack Dark Zone loot that has been attached to an extraction helicopter. This on top of the random supply drops which was added in the previous update, hopefully we can see the Dark Zone getting a bit more intense, which is where the entirety of the excitement lies.

The second incursion titled Clear Sky will situate agents in Columbus Circle tasked with targeting an anti-air missile site.

In the tweet below posted by the official @TheDivisionGame page, they outline specific gear sets for players with different play styles.

Hunter’s Faith – Long range

  • 2) 20% Marksmen Rifle critical hit damage
  • 3) 20% Damage to elite
  • 4) Every time you land a shot depending on the distance to the target, it will give you Damage Resistance against enemy weapon damage – you can go above 75% Damage Mitigation. The additional armor disappears after one bullet hits you

Lone Star – DPS

  • 2) 100% Ammo Capacity
  • 3) 1000 LMG Damage
  • 3) 1000 Shotgun Damage
  • 4) Every time you holster a weapon it will automatically be reloaded

Final Measure – Defensive

  • 2) 50% Exotic Damage Resilience
  • 3) 15% Protection from Elites
  • 4) When you you damage a player or an NPC with a grenade, you get a defuse buff, that allows you to defuse enemy grenades. When you defuse an enemy grenade it also gives you a grenade. (Also works with mortars in Falcon Lost)

Predator’s Mark – Support

  • 2) 20% Optimal Range
  • 3) 800 Assault Rifle Damage
  • 3) 700 Pistol Damage
  • 4) Every time you hit 10 Bullets without switching the target, will apply bleed to the target. The bleed damage will be 100% of the damage already done by the bullets
